Leveraging privilege, creativity, and compassion to empower nonprofits

As a nonprofit fundraising consultant, advancement strategist, and interim nonprofit development executive, Elizabeth Saltonstall helps nonprofit leaders create thriving organizations. Her 30-year career began in Principal Gifts at Harvard University’s Development Office, where she supported senior university leadership on a groundbreaking $2.1 billion capital campaign. While there, she managed a portfolio of major prospects and staffed members of the Campaign Executive Committee, composed of globally recognized high-net-worth leaders and philanthropists.

In 2010, Elizabeth founded Saltonstall Consulting, a boutique firm that brings industry-leading advancement practices to serve the bespoke needs of nonprofits and change-makers navigating capital campaigns, strategic fundraising initiatives, leadership transitions, and comprehensive advancement planning.

Elizabeth and her network of experts partner closely with boards, executives, and advancement leaders to address complex fundraising challenges, build consensus, and achieve ambitious goals. Her portfolio spans more than fifty-five nonprofit clients across arts and culture, health and human services, athletics, education, community foundations, and the environment—serving institutions domestically and abroad.

Notable client engagements include the Development Committee of MIT’s Corporation, Harvard Law School’s Legal Services Center, The Boston Foundation, New England Aquarium, Mount Desert Island Hospital, Steppingstone, YW Boston, The Dimock Center, St. Mark’s School, Pan-Florida Challenge, and the International Consortium of Healthcare Outcomes Measurement. Clients supported by Saltonstall Consulting routinely raise annual funds exceeding $1M for operating budgets over $10M, and campaign goals have ranged from $10M to more than $100M.

She holds a Conservation in Action Certificate from Mass Audubon and is a graduate of the LeadBoston certificate program in inclusive team leadership, as well as a member of the Medical Reserve Corps of Massachusetts. Elizabeth’s work is shaped by the lived experiences of client teams and communities, supporting organizations committed to driving positive change.
